About Holistic Wellness Massage by Kim Keresturi RMT
As an Registered Massage Therapist for many years, I have found that people love the physical benefits of massage, but are also looking for deeper connection to energy and spirit. In a hectic world, they sometimes yearn for a warm, nurturing environment. My experience, training and passion have brought me many new techniques to incorporate into my practice and personal lifestyle.
I am excited to now offer the "Holistic Wellness Massage".The backbone of the HWM is Lomi Lomi massage. Many years ago during my first Lomi workshop, I was completely blown away. I had never experienced such a nurturing, deeply, relaxing massage. I felt like all the pieces of me had been put back together!
Lomi originated in Hawaii and is called the " Loving Hands" massage. It works gently and sometimes deeply into muscles using continous, flowing strokes. I usually ask the client to silently (set an intention) before the session begins as I make initial, quiet contact with the client both physically and energetically. As the massage unfolds, I use long , connecting fluid strokes that go from head to toe, or sometimes to two body parts at one time. An optional special blend of aromatic oils is available.
I also love to include the energetic realm of Reiki .This not only helps many people reach a deeper state of relaxation, it may also provide personal insights or imagery. When guided, I include reflexology since I have found that massaging the feet often helps release blockages elsewhere in the body; and most people love it. I also draw on abdominal massage, Swedish and my own intuitive style I combine all this with my training as an RMT and the anatomy and physiology that entails. I hesitate to label what I do, but to differentiate this style of massage from my regular sessions, I call this a “Holistic Wellness Massage”. I have no set format or sequence for the massage as no two massages are the same as it depends entirely upon the individual, in that moment. A major part of the session is connecting heart to hands and allowing the energy of love and light to shine through. I appreciate and endeavour to bring in the Hawaiian philosophy of Aloha which goes beyond (the typical view of love) that we hold (passion, romance and or fondness) to the far more encompassing elements as non-judgement, appreciation, forgiveness, tolerance , respect and compassion.
The details: Talking is kept to a minimum during the session while Hawaiian music plays softly in the warmly heated room. A towel is placed between the legs and another over the chest to protect modesty but the long connecting strokes are such an important part of this massage , so I ask that underwear not be worn. One last note, if you have an aversion to massage oil, this is not the right treatment for you!
Please allow extra time for yourself at the end of the session (Feel free to sit and have a glass of water or cup of tea in the lounge)
before reintegrating back in to your day.
If you would love to receive this type of massage, please book a time with me below.
Be well,
Kim
